Product Testing Facility
Morgantown, PA
We were asked by Stoltzfus Enterprises of Elverson, PA to be the architect for this 40,000 square foot testing facility in Morgantown, PA.
For an international company, this building was designed and constructed to function as a state-of-the art testing facility for the products they create. Among the challenges of integrating the latest and greatest testing equipment and the substantial foundations they required was the project schedule. We initially met with the contractor and client for this one in February of 2021 and the building was completed by the fall of 2022. This included all site design and approvals!
I admit, at times we did not make it easy for the guys in the field to meet this schedule. We blended brick, steel, glass, cast stone, composite metal, and deep ribbed metal panels to create a building that projects a kind of modern technical precision. All of this takes time and skill to build. The contractors certainly had the skill. Time? not so much. But hey, the work that goes on in there is technical and precise, the building should look that way right?
One goal of ours was to bring the look and feel of the exterior into the main interior spaces for an integrated design. Accomplished.
Thanks go to GCI Design, Inc. of Lancaster, PA for assistance with the interior finishes. Also, a crisp high five goes out to Providence Engineering of Lancaster, PA for structural design assistance and Sharpe Engineering of Pottstown, PA for Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Design.
We were part of a fantastic team on this one and the results show it.
