Major House Transformation

Delta, PA

With views out to the Susquehanna River, this house is on an incredible property in Delta, Pa. New owners did not know what to do... tear it down or try to renovate?

Although not that old, and solidly constructed in the mid 1990’s, design wise it was a total mess. I know, sounds snobby, but it was a conglomeration of boxy spaces, different wings jutting out at strange angles, and rooflines all over the place. No rhyme or reason to it. A real head scratcher for sure.

Initially, the decision was to tear it all down and start from scratch. But the owners kind of feel like I do— if you’re able to work with something that’s already there, then maybe that’s less of a waste. I sketched out what I would remove, what I’d keep and where the main spaces would be relocated. They liked the concept and we were off.

The result is a lot of work and perseverance from everyone involved. Another great team effort between the owners, B&D Builders and us. Michelle Harris took care of the interior selections and coordination. Christiana Factory Studio handled most of the cabinetry on the upper levels.
