Major House Transformation
Delta, PA
This house, with views out to the Susquehana River, is on an incredible property in Delta, Pa. The property had recently been purchased and the new owners did not know what to do with the house. Tear it down or try to renovate it. Although not that old and solidly constructed (it was built in the mid 1990’s), design wise it was a total mess. I know this sounds snobby but it was just a conglomeration of boxy spaces with different wings jutting out at strange angles and rooflines all over the place. There was really no rhymn or reason to it. It was a real head scratcher for sure.
Initially the decision was to tear it all down and start from scratch but the owners kind of feel like I do in that if you are able to work with something that is already there then maybe that is less of a waste. They asked me what I could do with it and I did some sketches showing what I would remove and what I would keep and where the main spaces would be relocated. They liked the concept and we were off.
What you see here is the result of a lot of work and perserverence from everyone involved with this project. This was another great team effort between the owners, B&D Builders and us. Michelle Harris took care of the interior selections and coordination and Christiana Factory Studio handled most of the cabinetry on the upper levels.
