Vietri Building

Coatesville, PA

Does a pre-engineered metal building need to look like a pre-engineered metal building? We do not think so. We teamed up again with D. Howe and Sons Construction to create this new 69,000 square foot facility for an established local electrical contractor.

Having lived in the Chester County, PA area all of my life, I have been aquainted with the owner of this business a long time. I know this person to be very particular about his facilities and his equipment and his business which is why, I think, he has been so successful - Plus the fact that he works REAL HARD at it.

This building – first – needed to be functional and efficient containing shop areas, material inventory warehouse storage areas, equipment repair areas and office space. The shops and warehouse areas needed to be mostly free of interior structural columns which pushed us towards utilizing a pre-engineered metal building for the main structure. Overhead bridge cranes make it possible to move anything pretty much anywhere inside these areas. Translucent insulated wall panels do a nice job of illuminating the interiors with natural light during operational hours.

Within the envelope of the pre-engineered structure, a two- story office block with main entrance is inserted into the Northwest corner facing the street. Since this is the most visible corner of the building it made sense to crank up the detailing a bit here to give the building a modern and clean aesthetic. Horizontal projections and piers skinned with composite metal panels help to minimize the “flatness” of a typical building like this. Recessed composite metal panels using the company’s colors and integrated signage projects a look that says “We are an electrical construction company and we know what we are doing”.

Again, GCI Design, Inc of Lancaster, PA did a masterful job selecting and coordinating the interior finishes and Sharpe Engineering of Pottstown, PA worked out the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing Design.
