Olive Basin Store

Kitchen Kettle Village - Intercourse, PA

We have worked for Kitchen Kettle Village in Intercourse, PA over and over through the years. They were planning to renovate one of their existing stores and open up a new store that specialized in premium extra virgin olive oils and balsamic vinegars. Call me naïve but we had no idea you could even have a store that only sold these two things. So we learned something new right off the bat.

What should a store in Lancaster County that sells olive oil and vinegar look like? I did not know so I made something up. My thinking was that it should be unique, different, and maybe a little odd so people would notice it and want to go in.

We made use of corrugated copper, glass, stone, and reclaimed barn boards and timbers to create a unique entrance canopy for the store. The best thing is, it worked. The store has been very successful since it opened. Helping new businesses thrive through good design is big fun.

B&D Builders had big fun — I think — figuring this one out and getting it built.
